Recommended : NPR Series on Soldiers Returning from Iraq
In light of the discussion of Veteran’s Day launched on Vox Nova and continued here, I want to recommend the excellent series on the impact of war running this week on NPR’s Morning Edition to mark Veteran’s Day. The series seems in line with what I call an ethic of support instead of an ethic of honor. Each day they have been telling the stories of soldiers struggling to return to civilian life after tours in Iraq. You can listen to the programs on the web if you cannot catch the broadcast.
About the Series
This week, to mark Veterans Day, Morning Edition tells stories about soldiers who sign up, serve in Iraq, come home, and try to get back to their lives. The people we’ll hear from do not have physical injuries, but are hurt, or just changed — in other ways.
