Losing Memory, But Finding a Voice….

July 23, 2008

One worthwhile thing I’ve done on my summer vacation thus far is to write an op-ed piece on Alzheimer’s disease for Newsday that appeared last Sunday. In it I argue that we have over-emphasized medical research and need to listen more to the voices of people with dementia as we deal with the challenges. Newsday put together a nice web package on people with dementia who remain active and engaged citizens, and are trying to get an online forum going on this. Read it and add your thoughts if this issue concerns you. Really, it’s going to have to concern us all….

I found your blog and I thought that you might be interested in the musical act called The Priests. What separates this classical trio from others is that they really are catholic priests, who have recently signed a recording contract with Sony BMG. They are currently recording an album of classic hymns from the Latin Mass but you can find them on their website at http://www.thepriests.com and even on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/thepriestsofficial. If you like what you hear it would be great if you could help them become better known to the public by mentioning them in one of your blog posts one day.

    Thank you,
    Jennifer Chin
